  General Condition

The flagship of the Sun Cruiser line, the Maxum 3300 SCR indulges passengers with amenities, spaciousness, performance and prestige rivaling many yachts. For that seasoned elite wishing to graduate to the next level of luxury while putting exotic ports of call within reach, here's the passport. The elegantly ergonomic helm features a full array of analog instrumentation, an illuminated compass, a depth indicator, and a VHF radio for confidently navigating to far-off destinations.

The 3300 SCR's richly appointed, Euro-designed salon encourages civilized entertaining in any port. Elegant, upholstered seating, and sensuously smooth tables and counters are lit by handsome lamps at night and breezy hatches by day. There's a surprising amount of headroom and an expansive living space that's accented by refined touches such as; a convertible V-berth, an aft cabin and an electric-flush toilet.

The sight of the fully-functional galley, with Corian countertops, conjures up images of leisurely gourmet dining. The curved opposing dinette has ample room for a formal setting for 4. The spacious forward stateroom has a full-size double bed, and the mid-berth features a twin convertible sleeping area, for dreamy nights spent under a canopy of stars.

  Actual Condition

It is reported that while underway, one engine caught fire. The most concentrated heat and fire damage is on and around the starboard engine. There is heat damage to the bottom of both engine hatches and the trough around them. The fiberglass damage is heaviest on the starboard side.

It is thought that some type of fuel leak might have started the fire. Damaged components on the engines and throughout the engine room will require replacement. Fiberglass and gelcoat repairs will be required on the hatches, deck and bilge. The aluminum fuel tank has black, sticky staining which will have to be removed.
There may be internal engine damage, but there doesn't appear to be enough evidence to suggest replacement of one or both engines. Most of the externally mounted components will require replacement.

Although most of the engine room wiring does not exhibit actual short-circuiting damage, all is discolored and the plastic insulation is now soft and sticky. There was enough heat to melt engine room insulation and warp the plastic holding tank, so the wiring was subjected to high temperatures as well. A significant amount of the wiring will have to be replaced. Several cushions in the cockpit were burned also.
