Leopard 44 Sunsail 444
Water Tankage: 103 gal
Hull Material: Fiberglass
Parham, Antigua & Barbuda --
| BUILDER'S REMARKS:
The Leopard 44 was "Boat of the Year" when introduced
in 2011. The judges were raving about the speed on the
water, easy handling and the revolutionary forward cockpit.
The Leopard 44 features two cockpits, one fore and one
aft with outside dining area protected by a functional
hard-top bimini with mounted solar panels (back side).
The galley-up has ample storage and a huge drawer type
fridge and freezer. No steps up or down anywhere on the
salon level. The 3-cabin layout features an owner-dedicated
starboard hull with master stateroom, office area and
large head with separate stall shower forward. Sailing
the Leopard 44 is easy: both main and jib sheets lead
to stoppers and self-tailing (electric) winches directly
adjacent to the helm. There's room for two on the bench-style
helm seat, but you need only one to trim sails!
| This is one of the better
opportunities from the 44 R&Cs damaged in the Moorings
fleet. She will need work but still has a lot left to
start with. The Sunsail 444 has 4 staterooms with 4 heads
and 4 cyl Yanmars. She suffered damage to the port side
hull, rails, and cabin house. She has damage to starboard
side hull and damage to the bow. Starboard side rail damage
as well. Engines clean but questionable as to if they
were flooded. The whole in the cabin house allowed a lot
of salt spray and water into the cabin. The electrical
panel appeared to have been wet on the outside but dry
on the backside. The galley was splashed with salt water.
The port hull staterooms did suffered water intrusion,
but cleaned well. Starboard staterooms stayed very dry.
Generator and sail compartments visually appear to have
stayed dry throughout the storm. No mast or boom. Dingy
davits appear intact and ok.
